Coffee Community ‘The Gathering’ to hold the WA State ASCAA Championships, hosted by Cafe Culture International.
Café Culture will host ‘The Gathering’ in the Foyer of BHP Billiton’s, Brookfield Place Skyscraper, 125 St Georges Terrace, Perth, on the 18th
and 19th of January from 10-5pm where the Barista Championships, Latte Art Championships, Cup Tasting Championships and Coffee in Good Spirits competition will be held.
A line up of highly skilled professional baristas will showcase their polished craft to apanel of distinguished judges including as head judge, Ben Bicknell (Five Senses Coffee
Roasters) overseeing the competition and competitors, Elisha Mauger (WA previous Cupping Champion and WA ASCAA coordinator), Brent Williams (highly experienced judge from Da Vinci Goumet), and Sean Edwards (Cafe Culture International).
The specialty coffee industry’s competitions are accredited by ASCAA (Australasian Specialty Coffee Association) and are the most elite accolades awarded in the Australian coffee event scene, in recognition of industry leadership and excellence, both for the individual baristas as well as the café or roaster that they work for. The WA State ASCAA Championships are a platform for competitors to work towards the National event and then onto representing Australia in the International arena at WBC 2014 Italy.
Hosted by Café Culture International, who also produce Café Culture magazine, Café Biz Expo and the Golden Bean Coffee Roasters competition are highly dedicated advocates in the coffee industry worldwide. They fully support and encourage individuals to validate their coffee education and to furthermore be commended and awarded in their personal accomplishments. Managing Director and coffee guru, Sean Edwards says that he is “excitedly the level of expertise in the WA coffee market and by creating benchmarks in quality of product and service, the industry is able to grow to meet the demands of the caffeinated consumer“.
The winners of each competition will receive a prestigious trophy and runners up medals with the opportunity to compete at the national level.
