Perth’s Jamie’s Italian Restaurant is on the cusp of opening at 140 William Street. There is just one final operational piece of the preparation puzzle pending.
‘’We are waiting on our liquor licence to be approved and as soon as that process has been completed we will be ready’’, said Karen Westfield, Head of Operations for Jamie’s Italian Australia. “Once we have this we can commence our soft openings in order to get ready to welcome the Perth public.’’ Karen said the new Perth team is just bursting to open the restaurant.
Jamie Oliver is also thrilled about his impending second Australian Jamie’s Italian opening in Western Australia.
“When I was in Australia last year, I was very aware of the tremendous energy and vibe that is Perth and it feels really natural to open our second Australian Jamie’s Italian here in a stunning building that will really show off what we do”, enthused Jamie. ‘’I know the team over there are working really hard to make sure the Perth people have an amazing Jamie’s Italian experience’’.
The 100 – strong team, including 40 dedicated kitchen staff, have undergone rigorous training over the last week and Westfield is particularly impressed. ‘’We are delighted with the level of expertise and enthusiasm amongst all the West Australians chosen, particularly our young Chefs’’, says Karen.
Head Chef Lorenzo Schiaffini, who has helmed Cambridge and Brighton venues for Jamie until recently, is now a resident in Perth and is working hard with his team towards the opening too. Lorenzo spent time in February in Sydney with Executive Chef David Clarke, perfecting the new season’s menus for both Sydney and Perth restaurants.
The 460sq metre space located includes a spacious dining area for up to 214 customers with an eclectic mix of booths, colourful chairs as well as al fresco dining. A pasta machine located in the front window will produce fresh pasta daily.
Jamie’s Italian will be open from Monday to Sunday from 11am to 10:30pm. It pays to arrive early – traditionally Jamie’s Italian takes bookings for tables of six or more however they are opening up some bookings of 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s in Perth. The entrance bar is a popular waiting spot, and any queue is instantly cared for with delicious antipasti.
